An alternate take on how Korra and Bolin’s date ended up, and how I like to imagine Borra would have happened canonically. The idea gripped me this morning and I just had to get it done tonight, and then I just had to do it in colour, and add an extra sketchy panel even though I haven’t slept in nearly two days ugh /collapses

When everyone was hating on Korra for getting the avatar state too “easily,” i realized that each avatar opens the door to the avatar state through their original element. For Aang, he had to let go of worldly possessions, that being the Airbending way. For Korra, she had to be open to the greatest change, which is the Waterbending way. Voila :D

Wait omg that’s insanely cool! I NEVER would’ve thought of that but it’s DEFINITELY true!!!! Even if Bryke did that by accident, it fits perfectly. Dayum! I love when people figure out stuff like this

But we can pretend it doesn’t sound really weird in acoustic form and that we’re just going for a Republic City vibe, right? In any case, you can blame/thank imperatriceete for this idea… The moment she left it in my ask I was immediately excited about it! I didn’t really change the song all that much, mostly because I’ve always loved the ring to the original lyrics and it already fit Korra pretty well! Hope you enjoy it despite the lame ukulele, haha! Whitewashing is not just about skin tone. If I drew her with Caucasian features and dark skin, that’d still be erasure. I’m not sure why some people don’t really seem to understand this.

This was done in deviantart muro and it was my first time using the program. it was quite difficult, so that’s why some parts of the picture (eg. left eye, fur on the coat, nose) look subpar. But I really shouldn’t be giving myself any excuses.
